Dietetic Consultation

Nourish specialises in food sensitivities (both allergies and intolerances) and their potential role in common chronic complaints such as digestive upset (bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhoea), irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, migraine, chronic fatigue, and eczema. The role of common food intolerances such as wheat, diary and egg are explored primarily, with consideration of a full exclusion diet in cases where multiple or less common food sensitivities are suspected. Additionally Nourish offers education on the low-FODMAP diet, a highly effective* treatment for sufferers of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as supported by ongoing research conducted by King’s College London.

Nourish offers one-to-one 60-minute nutrition counselling sessions, which begin by exploring the journey that has led you here, your past/current physical, emotional & mental health before having a detailed discussion of your dietary patterns, food choices and lifestyle. A personalised nutritional strategy is then negotiated and agreed between you and the registered dietitian. A brief period of relaxation is then offered to those clients wishing to experience the Reconnective Healing® frequencies although this is not a healing session.

Follow-up dietetic consultations tend to be 45 minutes in duration and are offered up to three times following initial consultation to assess progress with the nutritional strategy, commence (where appropriate) a supervised food re-introduction programme and adjust your goals as your symptoms and lifestyle change. Review is essential to ensure the resulting dietary intake is varied and well-balanced for all essential macro- and micro-nutrients.

* 76% of IBS sufferers that had seen a FODMAP-trained dietitian reported an improvement in functional gut symptoms after adopting the diet (Gibson & Shepherd, American Journal of Gastroenterology 2012)
